Jérôme Hergueux
Jérôme Hergueux is a research fellow at the CNRS, an affiliated researcher at the Center for Law and Economics at ETH Zurich and an associate professor at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. A multidisciplinary researcher, he operates at the frontier between psychology, economics, human-computer interaction and law. His work makes use of experimental and field data collected in digital environments, such as open source software development platforms or Wikipedia. His research focuses on the impact of psychological and cognitive traits on our behaviour, our ability to cooperate, and our individual and collective decision making. More recently, he has been interested in modes of horizontal collective deliberation, as applied to offline environments (citizen conventions, law-making).
A graduate of the IEP in Strasbourg and Sciences Po, he began his thesis jointly at these two institutions before joining Harvard University. He then became a post-doctoral fellow at ETH Zurich before joining the CNRS. Alsatian by birth and heart, he has lived in Egypt, the United States, Jordan, Switzerland and Lebanon, speaks French, English and Arabic, and is passionate about public and international affairs. In his spare time, he is committed to perfecting his cooking skills.
